WHAT IS YOUR NEW PATIENT PROCEDURE?
IT'S EASY
You can contact me via SMS, WhatsApp, email, or just give me a call to set up an appointment.
For the initial consult, you will be required to sign a mandatory standard consent form.
If you have a referral letter or had any investigations done (eg; Xrays, MRIs, ultrasounds), bring those along with you.
Also, have your medical aid details handy if applicable.
DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?
NO.
Physiotherapists are first-line practitioners licensed to assess and diagnose. This means you do not need to be referred to see a physiotherapist.
We may also refer you to other health professionals and services.
WHAT TYPES OF HEALTH INSURANCE DO YOU ACCEPT?
Currently, only DISCOVERY, and MHG affiliated medical aid schemes accepted.
Remember that your medical aid is tailor-made for you, so contact your provider to confirm your cover.
Some medical aids require pre-authorization before you can see a physiotherapist. Give your provider a call to determine if this will be necessary for you.
EFT and card payments accepted for private (no medical aid or only hospital plan) accounts.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST PHYSIOTHERAPY SESSION?
Your first session will involve an interview and discussion of your medical history, followed by a physical assessment to better understand your condition.
We are a team, so we will use this time to plan your therapy and set goals for recovery.
The treatment session includes helping you understand your condition, intervention from your physio, and most importantly, a home exercise program to aid in your recovery.
If needed, we will then set a follow-up appointment.
WHAT KIND OF CLOTHING DO I NEED?
BE COMFORTABLE.
Loose, comfortable clothing is best.
Since your physical assessment requires your physiotherapist to see how your body operates, it is helpful to bring along a loose shirt and pair of shorts.
